Badedammen Vest
In Stavanger, Norway, Skanska is building an attractive new residential area called Badedammen Vest. Named after a 130-year-old swimming pool located nearby, Badedammen Vest offers its residents a scenic, marina environment just a 10 minutes walk from the city centre.
The apartments at Badedammen Vest are built to a high standard with features such as wooden floors and sea views from the many balconies. Skanska’s ambitions for the project ncluded providing residents with quality parks, recreation areas and footpaths along the seafront. At the same time, the goal was to create an urban setting with all necessary restaurants and coffee shops.
Responsible use of energy
Together with Statoil Norge AS, Skanska also worked to create smart, energy-saving solutions at Badedammen Vest. The apartments are well insulated and equipped with a water-based heating system that relies on a renewable source of seawater. In addition to being efficient, the system provides a comfortable indoor environment that is easy to regulate. Furthermore, homeowners pay only for the energy they actually use—instead of paying a flat fee based on apartment size, which is the standard when calculating charges in Norway. This way, residents can monitor and take charge of their own energy usage.
Ideal for first-time homebuyers
Although the community caters to the needs of all ages, many of the apartments are aimed at younger first-time homebuyers, ages 18 to 34. Designed around Skanska’s “You Live” concept, which is unique to Norway, the apartments are small yet practical. Skanska also offers an attractive financial package with low monthly costs, which make the apartments especially attrective to young people who want to enter the housing market but who don’t have a home of their own to sell. |
